This song was composed for my brother Kimmel King, whose sudden death ended our music projects where he often contributed lyrics.
Kimmel was sociable, but enjoyed solitude. He loved introspection and expressing it through poetry. He adored the open road trip, and this song captures his love of travel and exploration.
LYRICS
Rubber keeps rolling, the hot pavement whines,
Humming a tune, dear to me.
Song of the road and the love that I’ve lost,
Two Part Harmony.
Soul of a poet, that stirs in the dark,
Words that flow through my hand.
Grief that is mixed into hope and desire,
Two Part Harmony.
Carry a load so heavy and deep,
Asking the Lord to heal and to keep,
Me true to the path at last will find peace,
Two Part Harmony.
No one will know, the time that we die,
Worryin’ not much of use.
Stand tall on earth and look up to the sky,
Two Part Harmony.
Carry a load so heavy and deep,
Asking the Lord to heal and to keep,
Me true to the path at last will find peace,
With Two Part Harmony.
Carry a load so heavy and deep,
Asking the Lord to heal and to keep,
Me true to the path at last will find peace,
In Two Part Harmony.
Two Part Harmony.
